Pastor plans to resume a Bible study opportunity beginning on Sept 11 prior to late service at Immanuel at 9:30 with a midweek opportunity at Bethlehem on Wed. Sept 14, 7:00 p.m.

He also presented a brief overview of elections and resolutions from the District Convention. A copy is posted on the bulletin board.  Doug Schaefer represented the Dual Parish as delegate.  Of particular note is the supporting resolution for the Value Them Both Amendment on the ballot for the upcoming primary election.  All are encouraged to be sure to cast your yes vote to at least curb abortion access in Kansas so we do not become a haven for those seeking to end the lives of our unborn children.  If you are not inclined to participate in the primary political elections at least make the effort to cast your vote on this urgent matter.

Nathan Bargmann presented the first half Treasurer’s report. If you would like a copy, contact him.

Steve Schotte, at the end of his term as Elder rendered a special thank you for the opportunity to work with Pastor in this role.

The Joint Board of Elders continues to meet monthly and are studying Luther’s ‘Simple Way to Pray’.  They mentioned that they are updating the list for the Lutheran Witness and asked that you contact the elders with address changes or if you are not receiving it at all.  They asked that those with Memorial money balances might consider some special projects including the purchase of some new banners.

The Trustees reported that repair of the storm damage to the church electrical service has been completed.  Carpeting has been removed in the parsonage to address the children’s dust allergy issues and hardwood repair or overlay bids will be considered.  A special thank you is in order for the ladies who helped with painting.  The museum roof replacement should start in three weeks.  The construction of the parsonage garage is underway and a water line will need to be relocated.

The School Board reported the Association meeting to be held August 7th with a Kansas District representative to be participating.  One issue to decide is if we would extend a call for a principal only position instead of it being combined with a teaching position.  Hopefully the call process can resume. The Sunday School is still looking for help with teaching positions.

The Cemetery Committee reported with a bid for gravestone straightening of $50 for small stones and $80 for the larger stones they will try to do some straightening before hiring someone.  They also want to thank everyone who helped with the constant need for mowing.

A Marriage Packet for Couples Desiring to Marry in our church was introduced.  With some details needing further consideration it will be taken up in the next meeting.
